Evaluation

To evaluate my preliminary task for Media, i feel iv'e achieved getting all of the pieces we had to work on done and to a decent standard. But i could have added more to particular pieces that i created such as the cover for my student magazine, if i would have allowed myself some more time i could have got a bit more experimentation done on my work and made it a better piece itself.
Overall i'm happy with my pre-lim task but i need more concentration and speedier work done so that i can get more time on the more important parts of the main task.

Cover for magazine 2

With this cover i wanted to go for a very different theme and set up for the magazine so it would hopefully in a positive manner, stand out from the crowd and attract the correct audience with its young and stylish set up. I thought i would break the trend by also having a title that went down the side of the page so it would be different from most other common magazines but this design would need some further development to make it work well.

Cover One for magazine

This is the first of my magazine covers for the student magazine designs. This is the more simpler of the two that i have created but it still has the proven right method of magazines partly because near on every magazine has a similar layout to this and i was thinking about making a slightly different design to make the magazine unique. Plus with the main story central image the i thought that the smaller news stories could surround it and overlap which gives a nice flowing look to the front of the magazine. plus as i found from my questionnaire research most people would prefer many images on the front as oppose to blocks of text which i suppose is fair because people will get attracted in by the images instead of standing there for a few minutes and reading the cover.

Questionnaire Analysis

I surveyed 8 14-18 year olds to find out information to make the student magazine perfect for them. As I am aiming my magazine at both males and females, I had to acquire equal information from both sexes. To make sure there is biased decisions in creating my magazine I am going to analyse every question to see what the most popular results were such the price table that has already been completed and shows that most people would be willing to pay up to £2.

This survey question shows that the majority of the people that took part in the survey would feel that a more attractive magazine would have to consist of more images than text and that would appeal to the audience for the student magazine.

This question was asking the main colour people would like to see inside the magazine and the top answers are a tie between red and blue, this will be difficult to keep most people happy in the colour department plus red and blue in most cases don’t really go.

This question was asking about receiving freebies and so on but this also ended with being another tie so this will be a decision to make when it comes to this particular decision on the magazine.

This question wanted to see what people would want the content of the magazine to be about. From the information given most people would just want to see general news so they want to know a bit about everything so maybe similar to the contents of a newspaper just more appropriate to the age group.

This question simply asked when people would like to receive a new issue of the magazine. For this one people wanted to go mostly for monthly so at least there would be enough time to develop a magazine but because it is on general news it would take a long time to completed with up to date news.
